PERL Box On this page is a box showing where the objective and subjective Areas of Knowing are placed under each heading for the Ways of Knowing. In a group we discussed and decided which area of knowing is best fitted under the appropriate way of knowing. And this is what my group came up with.
We put acquaintance in perception because its something that we see daily. Authority goes into this category because people see things differently and therefore also falls under emotion. Practice is under perception because it how we see things to learn them. Memory falls into perception and emotion as different things can trigger a memory and they are viewed differently too. Introspection falls into this category because its the way each individual sees how they think which varies from person to person. My group put belief under emotion and reason because different cases can change the way something is interpreted. We put faith under emotion and reason for the same reason as belief as they are quite similar. Instinct is one we put under the heading of emotion because when you base something on your instincts, its how you feel about it, personally. Ethics was put under three categories in our group, it went under the heading of emotion, reason and language. This is because when we think of ethics we look at different areas in which it may affect many things. Empathy is an easy one we found to place and we had put it under emotion too, as it is emotionally based. And the last Area of Knowing is logic. We put this title under the heading of reason, because when we think logically there must be a reason for why we decide something for what it is or what its counted for.
